PET BIO ID LTDA ("PetBioID" or "MyPetAlive") is firmly committed to the privacy and protection of personal data of its users. This Policy describes how we collect, use, store and protect information provided by Pet Owners and related to Pets registered on the MyPetAlive Platform, in compliance with applicable privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and other relevant US privacy regulations.
1. Definitions
PetBioID / MyPetAlive: PET BIO ID LTDA, a private legal entity registered under CNPJ/MF No. 35.816.619/0001-53.
Platform: System composed of web and mobile application (iOS and Android) available at mypetalive.com, offering biometric identification of pets, issuance of Digital Pet ID with QR Code, and a lost pet reunion system.
Owner: An individual 18 years of age or older registered on the Platform, responsible for the registered pet.
Pet: An animal registered by the Owner, subject to the biometric identification process.
Biometric Data: Information extracted from Pet photographs for facial identification purposes, including facial patterns and unique physical characteristics of the animal.
Digital Pet ID: Digital document generated by the Platform, containing Pet and Owner data, with an authentication QR Code.
2. Agreement
Use of the Platform expressly indicates that the Owner has read, understood and agrees to all terms of this Privacy Policy. By accepting the terms of this instrument, the Owner expressly authorizes the processing of their data to ensure the maintenance and proper performance of the Platform features.
If the Owner does not agree with the provisions of this instrument, they should not access, view, download or use the MyPetAlive Platform in any way. This Policy is available for reading at any time at mypetalive.com/privacy.
3. Data Collected
3.1 Owner Data
For registration and use of the Platform, the following personal data of the Owner is collected:
Full name
Government ID (optional)
Full address
Cell phone number (for verification via OTP code)
3.2 Pet Data
For registration and issuance of the Digital Pet ID, the following is collected:
Name, species, breed, gender, color and size
Date of birth or estimated age
Microchip number, if any
Vaccination history and relevant health conditions (optional)
Pet photographs for facial biometric processing
3.3 Pet Biometric Data
The biometric identification process involves capturing photographs and video frames of the Pet, transmitted for secure processing. The extracted biometric patterns are stored and used exclusively for:
Identification and authentication of the animal on the Platform
Reunion system in case of loss
Issuance and validation of the Digital Pet ID
PetBioID applies the same security and protection standards for this data as required for sensitive data under applicable privacy laws.
3.4 Browsing Data
Technical access data is automatically collected, including IP address, browser type, operating system, pages accessed, and date and time of access. This data is used for security, experience improvement and statistical purposes.
4. Purpose of Processing
The collected data is processed for the following purposes:
Provision of contracted services: Owner and Pet registration, biometric processing, Digital Pet ID issuance and Pet public profile availability
Reunion system: use of biometric and registration data to identify lost animals
Authentication and security: Owner identity verification, account protection and fraud prevention
Communications: sending transactional emails related to registration, verifications and service notifications
Platform improvement: usage analysis to improve features
Compliance with legal obligations: when required by court order or competent administrative authority
The collected data is used exclusively for the provision of contracted services. PetBioID does not use Owner data for third-party advertising purposes and does not sell it.
5. Data Sharing
5.1 Data Destination
Personal data of Owners and biometric data of Pets are used exclusively for the provision of contracted services. PetBioID does not proactively share data with third parties outside the cases expressly provided for in this Policy.
Registration on the Platform is independent of public animal registration systems. PetBioID does not integrate or transmit data to government animal registries, except by express court order.
5.2 Technology Service Providers
For Platform operation, data may be shared with the following providers, all subject to confidentiality agreements and privacy law compliance:
Twilio Inc. (SMS/OTP sending and transactional email via SendGrid) twilio.com/legal/privacy
Cloud infrastructure providers, with processing in compliance with applicable law
Biometric processing API exclusively for Pet identification purposes
5.3 Other Sharing Scenarios
Data sharing will only occur additionally in the following situations:
Protection of PetBioID interests in legal proceedings
Corporate transactions (merger, acquisition), ensuring continuity of data protection
By court order or legally competent administrative authority request
5.4 Pet Public Profile
The Pet public profile, accessible via the Digital ID QR Code, will only display information the Owner chooses to make public. Owner contact data displayed on the public profile will be visible exclusively for reunion purposes.
6. Data Security
PetBioID adopts the following technical and organizational measures:
Data encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest
Authentication tokens with controlled expiration, stored in httpOnly cookies
Password hashing with bcrypt algorithm
OTP codes stored with automatic expiration
Data access restricted to authorized staff under confidentiality agreements
Access inventory with date, time, identity and accessed file records
In the event of a security incident that may cause significant risk to data subjects, PetBioID will notify the affected parties in accordance with applicable law.
7. Owner Rights
In accordance with applicable privacy laws, the Owner has the following rights regarding their personal data:
Confirmation and access: confirm the existence of processing and access collected data
Correction: correct incomplete, inaccurate or outdated data
Anonymization, blocking or deletion: of unnecessary, excessive or improperly processed data
Portability: receive your data in structured format for transfer to another provider
Deletion: request deletion of data processed based on consent
Information: obtain information about entities with which PetBioID shared your data
Consent revocation: at any time, without prejudice to the lawfulness of prior processing
To exercise any of these rights, the Owner can access their account settings on the Platform or send a request to privacy@petbioid.com. PetBioID will respond to requests within 15 business days.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Personal data will be retained for the time necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, subject to the following criteria:
Owner and Pet registration data: maintained while the account is active; after closure, retained for up to 5 years to fulfill legal obligations
Pet biometric data: maintained while the Pet is registered; permanently deleted upon Owner request or account closure
Access data and logs: retained for up to 6 months
PetBioID may delete collected personal data when: (i) the purpose for which it was collected is achieved; (ii) the Owner revokes consent, requesting deletion at privacy@petbioid.com; or (iii) determined by competent authority.
9. Cookies
The Platform uses essential cookies, necessary for authentication and security, which cannot be disabled, and analytical cookies, used to understand user interaction and enable improvements, which can be declined by the Owner in browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may compromise Platform functionality.
10. Minors
The MyPetAlive Platform is intended for individuals 18 years of age or older. If PetBioID identifies that it has collected data from a minor without proper consent from legal guardians, such data will be immediately deleted. Parents or guardians who identify irregular registration should contact privacy@petbioid.com.
11. General Provisions
Any clause or condition of this instrument that, for any reason, is deemed null or ineffective will not affect the validity of the remaining provisions, which will remain fully valid and binding.
All materials, patents, trademarks, registrations, domains, names, privileges, creations, images and all related rights connected to the Platform and developed by PetBioID are and will remain the sole and exclusive property of PetBioID.
PetBioID may change this Policy at any time. Relevant changes will be communicated to the Owner by email and/or notice on the Platform with a minimum of 15 days notice. The updated version will always be available at mypetalive.com/privacy.
